Hey cupcake!

yes, something that i adore hearing from construction workers and old italian men, but also a most delightful cupcake trailer in austin. the home of airstream cuisine. and this place rocks.

they have yellow with white. yellow with brown. brown with white. brown with brown. red with cream. brown with cream. and carrot with cream. unfortunately for me, i arrived a wee bit too late for carrot with cream, there is not much that i enjoy more than a carrot cupcake with cream cheese icing. but thankfully i was equally in a devils food mood, so the chocolate with buttercream worked well.

the icing is ridiculous. almost has a slight hint of coconut. and a good buttercream icing done well is heaven. most icing i shun, as store bought icing (not in the tub) generally sucks. but this was very enjoyable. i could have ordered a side of extra icing and indulged. and the cake, the cake has a nice dark chocolate taste (replete with buds of actual dark chocolate inside) with a devil’s food aftertaste. mixed with the butter almost coconutty icing is bueno.

tried a bite of red velvet as well. the cream cheese icing is not as good as straight buttercream. but the cake was subtle, classic red velvet. i wish one of my friends had ordered the vanilla, as i can appreciate a nice yellow cake as well. a yellow cake done well can be a simple work of culinary art. next time perhaps.

bueno.
